2019 legislative post audit
The Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Animal Facilities Inspection (AFI) program is failing its responsibility to oversee companion animal facilities. A recent government audit of AFI revealed that it does not ensure or enforce the safety or welfare standards for the animals it exists to protect. This problem allows puppy mills to thrive in our state.

2019 legislative report
The 2019 Kansas legislative session has officially ended. It marked the fourth session for which HSLFKS was present and active. We celebrate the defeat of the reinstatement of greyhound racing and celebrate the statutory change that now allows FIV+ cats to be adopted statewide.
